Design your perfect event

Do you need a big entrance or exit to showcase the happy couple? Would you like some English bagpipe music at your ceremony? Do you want a disco after the ceilidh? We’re all multi-talented and creative and love to get involved in as much as you’d like us to.

We will go all-out to make your event special, whether it’s a wedding, birthday, ceilidh-series or festival.

We love to create a visual spectacular and can bring lighting that makes your whole space magical. We can also provide DJing and ceremonial music.

We hope these frequently asked questions are helpful. If there’s anything else, please do get in touch ๐Ÿ’–

Based in Sheffield, can play anywhere

If your event is within around 3 hours drive of Sheffield, we’ll just add mileage for a couple of vehicles onto our invoice. If you’re further afield, we might need to organise overnight accommodation too.

A ceilidh is a barn dance

It is pronounced “kay-lee”. It can also be known as a country dance or a ceili. Other terms include shindig and hootenanny ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s fine if you don’t know what youโ€™re doing

All ceilidh dances are explained by the caller and can be done with no prior experience. Ceilidhs are suitable for all ages, from children to senior citizens, and can be adapted for people with disabilities or mobility problems.

Ceilidhs are better than discos (yes they are). And you don’t have to be a folkie.

Ceilidhs get everyone mixing and meeting new people, they are fun and silly, and you even get to hold hands sometimes. In a big circle. Because everybody likes to be in a big circle.

A good ceilidh length is two hour-long sets

We suggest two sets of an hour each, with a break in the middle. Of course, we can also adapt to your requirements. If you have specific music that you want to play in the break, you can give us a Spotify playlist, or connect any bluetooth device to our sound system.

Any size room is fine

If you do want a guideline, about 1.5 square metres per dancer is a good one, but remember that it is likely that only about a half of those present will be dancing at any one time. And there is no harm in a bit of squishing.

Sound system included

We have an awesome sound system. Your event will sound amazing, however loud (or quiet) you want it to be.

Dance caller included

At a ceilidh, the “caller” teaches everyone each dance. We work with several excellent callers and will pick the best personality for each event.

We need 90 minutes to set up

It’s important we organise adequate time to set up and sound-check. We need to maintain a safe and comfortable working environment, and the overall quality of the event depends a lot on good preparation and a sound-check that gets the most out of the acoustics of the space.

At the end of an event, we can usually clear up and exit within 45 minutes.
